I really could have worded that better, oh well. Instead of the Heroes being the enemies of the Dark Story, everyone is an enemy in disguise for the villains. While Team Sonic and the rest of the world views the villains as a major threat, in actuality their going through plenty of problems in their plan, somehow managing to scrap together their own little victories. One aspect of this that I love is that Shadow only finds out about what Sonic’s been through right after Radical Highway, and he’s just a happy prick about it. Shadow manipulates Eggman into collecting all the Emeralds, and Rouge manipulates both of them to find out more information on Project Shadow. Rather than the villains focusing on their respective rivals, they’re more focused on insulting and getting in the way of each other’s plans, with Rouge not even being a true villain. In actuality, Eggman is the only one who wants world domination, with Shadow and Rouge having their own goals in mind. In the Dark Story, we follow Shadow, Eggman, and Rouge as they attempt to conquer the world, or so it seems at first glance. While Knuckles may be the only one with a submission in mind, everyone is on board with stopping Eggman. Overall however, our Heroes work together efficiently to take down the villains, ‘saving the day’ at the end of their story. During the entire story, Tails was cool and collective during the events of the game, having been pushed to the edge over the supposed death of his friend. Once Sonic is shot out into space, Tails immediately takes action against Eggman, loudly declaring that he won’t give up before beating the doctor in combat. Sonic adventure 2 battle rouge skin 1p how to#Unlike Sonic Team, most people remember Tails’ arc from Sonic Adventure where he learned how to stand up for himself without Sonic’s help. Tails is the most level headed of the team, and actually does most of the major work such as raiding Prison Island, finding the president, and making the fake Chaos Emerald. Sonic adventure 2 battle rouge skin 1p series#Anyone else really hate how the series never does anything with these two again? The two do argue and fight, but Knuckles’ knows when to keep his temper low, such as when he saves Rouge. His rivalry with Rouge is a little less personal as opposed to Sonic & Shadow’s, but the interaction between the two is still very present. If the first scene with him is any indication, Knuckles wanted no part in this situation, only having been dragged in thanks to the interference of Rouge, followed by Eggman attempting to steal it. Knuckles begins his journey solo, only wanting to hunt down the shards of the Master Emerald. It’s only when Sonic has learned to mellow out and put focus on the Eclipse Cannon when he is able to win, rather than putting his entire focus on fighting Shadow. Sonic adventure 2 battle rouge skin 1p skin#Shadow manages to get under Sonic’s skin in a way that for once, Sonic is the one getting angry at the insults and attacks thrown at him, when normally it would be the other way around. Sonic’s first instincts whenever fighting Shadow is to quickly begin fighting, which leads to two instances where he’s put at a disadvantage for a later even, namely when Sonic gets recaptured and when Prison Island is going to explode. Unlike the doof in Forces who could get shot and laugh it off, Sonic is ticked that someone is going around and pinning the blame on him, lashing out at the black hedgehog whenever he sees or even hears mention of him. With Sonic’s rivalry with Shadow, we begin to see an entirely different side to the character, is aggressive and angrier side. The true conflict for our protagonists are their dark counterparts found in the Dark Story: Shadow, Eggman, and Rouge. Throughout the Hero story, our protagonists are mostly on the same page with one another, with the only two butting heads being Sonic & Knuckles, and even then it’s harmless interactions between them. Most people tend to begin with the Hero Story first, so let us discuss that instead. This feature allows you to experience different type of story entirely depending on which one you choose, and can offer different context to certain events. Rather than using the character roulette from the first game, Sonic Adventure 2 offers two stories with various gameplay styles, Hero and Dark. ![]() Firstly, I’d like to take a look at our main group of protagonists/antagonists that we follow throughout the game. ![]()
